- For the best results, we recommend pre-heating the damaged area with a hairdryer before applying the Recarfix patch.
- Place the patch in the correct position.
- Apply the patch using the hairdryer to shape it nicely around the rim and the damage.
- Ready!
All sorted in 5 to 10 minutes! Please note the following:
- Do not use your car immediately after applying the Recarfix Patch (wait 48 hours).
- If it's a bit colder outside, hold the hairdryer on the patch for approximately 3 minutes after application to ensure optimal adhesion.
- Once you wash your rims / car again, always keep a distance of 30cm from where you applied the Recarfix Patch for the longest lifespan.
Alternative methods for repairing wheel damage
Naturally, besides using Recarfix, there are other methods you can consider. Here we discuss some commonly used alternatives and their pros and cons:
Repair with a paint pen.
Superficial scratches can often be repaired using a touch-up pen. The steps are similar to using Recarfix. The most important thing when working with a touch-up pen is to do so in a dry, dust-free environment.
The steps:
- Clean the rim with water and soap.
- Clean the scratches with a degreaser.
- Apply the touch-up paint in the colour of your wheel to the scratches.
- If the scratch is a bit deeper, you can apply the colour again to fill the scratch a bit more.
- Allow the paint to dry according to the instructions on the packaging.
- For the best result, finish it with a clear varnish.
BenefitsSuitable for experienced DIYers.
DisadvantagesTime-consuming and requires specific materials, clear varnish really needs to be sprayed. The result can therefore be disappointing, especially without experience.
2. Wheel repair at a specialist
If your rims are severely damaged, this is usually your only option. Always make sure you go to an approved repair shop.
- BenefitsProfessional result, suitable for larger damages.
- DisadvantagesExpensive, time-consuming, and often unnecessary for minor damage.
3. Use wheel protectors
The use of a rim protector can also help to hide minor damage on your rim, as it covers the edge. Additionally, with new damage, the protector will be damaged first, rather than the rim.
- Benefitsprevents future damage and can give a wheel a playful effect.
- DisadvantagesGood rim protectors are quickly €140, they don't repair existing damage, and you need them for 4 wheels straight away. Furthermore, they aren't easy to fit yourself.
