Never trim the patch
Every Recarfix patch is custom-cut with an edge that slopes at an exact angle. It is precisely this cut that makes the transition invisible. If you trim the patch yourself, that sloping edge disappears and the repair becomes visible. Always use the full patch, even if it is larger than the damage.

Identify the damage
First, determine the extent of the damage. If the scratch is a bit deeper, you may need to sand it down lightly. Make sure all materials are ready: alloy wheel cleaner or a simple degreaser, sandpaper (grit 120) if necessary, a hairdryer and the Recarfix patch. The best results are achieved at an outside temperature between 15 and 30 degrees.
Clean the alloy
Clean the rim thoroughly and dry the area where you are applying the patch. If the damage has deeper grooves or protruding points, lightly sand the scratch with 120-grit sandpaper. The smoother the surface, the better the result. Degrease and dry the rim thoroughly once more after washing or sanding so that the patch can adhere optimally.
Apply the Recarfix patch
First, heat the area of the rim where the patch will be applied. You can do this with a standard hairdryer, and it’s important for the patch to adhere properly. Allow 1 to 2 minutes for this. Carefully remove the patch from the backing and apply it to the rim by gently pressing down with your finger. Repeat this to ensure there are no air bubbles left under the patch.
Allow the patch to set
Heat the patch again with a hairdryer and press it down firmly to ensure optimal adhesion. You can use the car straight away, but wait 48 hours before washing it. If the temperature drops below 15 degrees at night, park the car indoors for the first night, or heat the patch for a further 5 minutes with the hairdryer.

Black trim simply restored
On this page, we’ll show you how to repair damage to black paintwork and trim using the Recarfix trim patch. The patch comes pre-shaped in strips, ovals and circles, so there’s no need to cut it to size: simply choose the right shape and apply it over the damaged area.
The procedure is the same as for alloy wheels: clean, prepare, apply and allow to set, tailored to black trim parts such as window surrounds, mirror caps and bumper components.

Assess the damage
Check which trim part you want to repair – such as a window surround, mirror cover or bumper section – and assess the extent of the damage. Have the correct pre-formed mould ready, along with a degreaser, a hairdryer and a microfibre cloth.
Clean and degrease
Clean the decorative part thoroughly, degrease it and dry it well. A clean, grease-free surface is necessary so that the patch can adhere optimally.
Apply the trim patch
Heat the surface and the patch briefly with a hairdryer. Choose the appropriate pre-cut shape, apply it over the damage and gently press out any air bubbles. There is no need to cut, the shape is already there.
Allow the patch to set
Heat the patch again with a hairdryer and press it down firmly for optimal adhesion. Wait 48 hours before washing, after which the patch is car-wash proof.

Rinse the alloy wheel
Demo: rinse away loose dirt and dust with water before applying the cleaner.
Bring the cleaner up
Demo: distribute the pH-neutral cleaner evenly and leave it to work for a short time.
Clean gently
Demo: clean with a soft brush or microfibre, also around the patch.
Rinse and dry
Demo: rinse thoroughly and dry the wheel for a streak-free result.
